Katie Lester
Instructor

Katie Lester began her dance training in Dublin, OH at Dublin Dance Center and Gymnastics under the artistic direction of Robin Smith.  After being introduced to ballet, pointe, jazz, and modern, she decided she wanted to make dance a large part of her life.  A recent 2007 graduate of Elon University, Katie received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance as well as Psychology.  As a student at Elon, she participated in regional American College Dance Festival conferences and gala concerts.  Her piece "Survival of the Fittest" was chosen to represent Elon at the American College Dance Festival in New Jersey.  Elon University gave Katie a stronger desire to perform as well as choreograph.  While at Elon, she performed in works created by Shouze Ma, Cherie Bower, Nina Wheeler, Susan Haines, Lauren Kearns, and guest artist, Lila York, formally of Paul Taylor Dance Company.  Katie furthered her training at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC as well as the Jazz Dance World Congress held in Chicago.  Now a resident of Charlotte, NC, Katie is a member of Caroline Calouche & Co. as well as Kearns Dance Project in Burlington, NC.  She is also a resident Teaching Artist in the Charlotte-Mecklenberg school system.  Katie joined the Steps 'N Motion faculty in 2007.
